The Court Theatre is currently seeking to appoint a Trustee to the Board with Performing Arts or Theatre Industry experience to add to the current Trustee skill-set which supports an iconic, diverse and dynamic organisation, creating Theatre for Aotearoa.

For more than 53 years, The Court Theatre has been a valuable part of the cultural and creative fabric of the city of Ōtautahi Christchurch. In our wonderful new home in Te Whare Tapere the Performing Arts Precinct in the central city, this diverse and dynamic company of around 40 permanent staff plus hundreds of artists and artisans produces some 15-20 productions each year. We have a strong education programme, and we commission new writing for New Zealand theatre. Underpinning this is the mandate of Theatre for Aotearoa, for our region and our city.

The Trust is committed to representing diverse skill sets across its Trustees and is currently seeking to appoint a Trustee to the Trust Board with specific experience in the performing arts and theatre.

So, if you have the following skills and attributes, we would love to hear from you:

Performing arts and/or theatre industry experience
Experience of working at a governance level
Well-developed level of business/commercial acumen
Strong community and business connections
A willingness to engage with the broader activities of The Court Theatre.

The ability of any potential Trustee candidate to add to the depth and diversity of the Board’s current skills, will be an important factor when making a decision on the appointment.

We would love to hear from experienced theatre practitioners and educators who are interested in running classes and/or workshops in our Education and Outreach Programme. Opportunities include both regular classes and short-term teaching with the Youth Companies.

To express your interest, please send a cover letter and C.V. to ben.limmer@courttheatre.org.nz, providing your training and experience and an indication of what you would like to teach. We are looking for skilled and motivated practitioners. Experience in education is valuable, but not essential. You must have a strong commitment to fostering the future talent of New Zealand theatre.
