Biography

Amy Straker is an actor, theatre maker, musician and performance coach. After graduating from NASDA in 2005, Amy secured The Court Theatre Internship for a full year. Since then, she has performed in over 60 productions throughout Aotearoa. Highlights include Doubt, Guys and Dolls, A Streetcar Named Desire, Homeland, That Bloody Woman, In the Next Room, or the Vibrator Play, Amadeus, Jane Eyre, Cabaret, Glorious, Ache, and Once – The Musical. 

Amy is a co-creator of Cubbin Theatre Company, making original works for the very young. Cubbin is currently the company in Residence at The Arts Centre Te Matatiki Toi Ora. Amy writes and performs her own music under the name Amy Grace and with The Swan Sisters. She also does sound design and composition for theatre.

Amy’s performance coach experience extends across theatre and film. Current coaching credits include We Were Dangerous (Piki Films), Sister Josephine (AJFilms), Fun Home, and A Doll’s House (The Court Theatre).
